All about the balance

The whole concept of “Healthy Living”is something that has rather eluded me for most of my life. That’s not to say that my lifestyle has ever been what you might term unhealthy.
For most of my life I have survived, and indeed maintained relatively good levels of fitness despite being known to skimp on fruit and veg from time to time…
Just recently, however, I’ve become aware of some of the benefits that a healthy lifestyle can offer. I recently moved from a job where I was usually fairly active to a much more sedentary desk job. It took me the best part of a month t oadjust to the regular hours and the sitting in front of a screen, but I have come to realize the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
I am aware I still have a long way to go until I am a truly healthy individual, but I am taking things one step at a time. I’ve recently embraced the concept of eating salad for instance, and looking at other healthy online recipes before going grocery shopping for the week.
I have found that there is an awful lot of writing to be found on the topic, both in book form and online. A lot of it contradicts itself, so it can be hard to really get a logical handle on how best to live your life, and what things you need to do in order to be healthy. I think it’s a case of finding something that works for you. You can buy into all sorts of potential myths (healthy living seems to go through phases not dissimilar to fashion) but in the end there will be something that just makes sense. There is often a certain logic behind things, despite the minefield of contradictory information. For the most part, we know what is and isn’t unhealthy, and the key is really in achieving balance.
